[15:16] DJ Earnshaw: started with survivors group in 2007
[15:16] In Kenzo: ACS Island -- could someone post a SLURL or landmark for us?
[15:16] DJ Earnshaw: 100 members to 200 then 250 members today
[15:16] DJ Earnshaw: 50 since jan this year
[15:17] DJ Earnshaw: 9 to 12 people attend each session
[15:17] DJ Earnshaw: support each other on their cancer jurnies

[15:21] In Kenzo: I have a question about access to SL from hospitals and if ACS or other groups have worked with hospitals to make SL available to those currently in treatment?

[15:21] DJ Earnshaw: acs eans relay for life and vice versa
[15:22] DJ Earnshaw: relay leads the fundraising
[15:22] In Kenzo: How many people here have done the Relay for Life RL? It's a wonderful day of walking!

[15:26] In Kenzo: Can you tell us a bit about your fundraising goals for 2009 and how things are going for you so far? When is the SL relay this year?
[15:26] DJ Earnshaw: relay = hope = love
[15:27] DJ Earnshaw: sting relay now in 20 other countries
[15:28] DJ Earnshaw: relationship with organizations in other countries, got help for someone in france by putting in touch with local organization
[15:29] In Kenzo: It does seem to help that there's already an awareness of the "Relay for Life" event outside of SL
[15:30] DJ Earnshaw: sting you cant do bake sales or car wash in sl but you can sell clothing and proceeds to ACS
[15:30] In Kenzo: Two years ago someone threw me in a jail cell inworld....then I was to find a friend to "bail me out" for charity donation to ACS
[15:31] In Kenzo: so there's lots of activities that connect to the bigger relay event
[15:32] DJ Earnshaw: have not tried wrking in RL with hospitals
[15:32] Gentle Heron: The Ophoenix Foundation helps with access in hospitals and after patients return home.
[15:33] DJ Earnshaw: poppy describes one person accessing from hospital bed
[15:33] In Kenzo: very true Gentle, good point. I met with another org that wanted to do SL healing work from hospital beds and they were afraid that most hospitals would block SL.
[15:33] Gentle Heron: The problem is that most hospitals don't have network accessibility
[15:33] DJ Earnshaw: worth thinking about
[15:33] In Kenzo: "There is a world out there, we have to go out there and open it" -- this is an awesome quote Poppy, thank you.
[15:33] DJ Earnshaw: Local Hspital here in Tulsa does provide wifi

[15:46] DJ Earnshaw: most cancers can be defeated if caught early
